CB´s Tesla Projekt

  • The Specs:

  • Primary power source: array of 2 OBITS, 10KVeff 20mA each (in parallel)
  • Tank circuit cap: Plastic Capacitors HC200-113B 011MFD, 20KV DCW for pulse applications
  • Primary coil: 13 turns of 1/4" copper tubing tapped at the 9th or 10th
  • Secondary coil: 4" diameter, 21,5" tall with 13" toroid about 8" away from the last winding ( to far away ;-)
  • Sparc-gap: static type with 6 gaps made from 0,6" x 4" copper tubes and one gap with adjustable spacing
  • The whole setup is integrated in a small table on castors for easy transportation and maintenance

A closeup view of the primary coil and the strikerail which doesn't seem to be necessary at these powerlevels ....
The supports for the primary are made from medium density fibreboard, not the best choice but works fine anyway

Closeup view of the cap and the adjustable section of the sparc-gap.

The yellow cable used for the wiring is taken from a sorted out neon sign.

Probably it is way too thin and will be replaced by something more adequate.

No, the cap is not leaking, it's just glued to the surface of the mounting board.

Some 12" streamers from the toroid striking a grounded rod...

Some 16" streamers produced using a small piece of copper tubing as a breakout point and the same grounded rod as in the picture above.

Small streamers from the toroid itself going into the air.

Same as above using a piece of wire as a breakout point.

A fluorescent tube on top of the toroid is lit up by the field surrounding the coil.

The coil running without any topload producing many small streamers.

That's me next to my coil. Luckily no streamers in this picture ;-)

... do yourself a favour, don't click on that pic :-) ...

The best streamers sofar... ;-))
